When my instructors a well over a decade ago told me that everyone had allergies, sinus problems, respiratory problems and immune issues I thought they were over estimating the facts. They weren't.

Respiratory problems killed my dad, asthma and he lived with allergies and sinus infections all his life. He didn't have to but then we didn't know about acupuncture and the other alternative therapies I've become a professional provider in. So let's review how acupuncture works for sinus problems (if you aren't aware of the different styles of acupuncture see the main acupuncture page).

How Acupuncture Helps Sinus Problems

With Vedic acupuncture your 're really getting more than just placement of acupuncture needles or pins. It's important to remember we do a longer treatment that involves a massage foundation for the acupuncture treatment and ends with a warm stone meridian massage to close the treatment of keep the balance we've achieved. As with all my articles, one hopes you are getting fully treated when you visit a provider of acupuncture.

Sinus infections in Chinese medicine are linked to the lungs and lung meridian but also have a relationship with the digestion through the stomach and large intestine meridians that are present in the face.

The emotions that most patients have deeply rooted are grief, sadness, and even some guilt.

In over seventeen years of treating patients I have become a believer that you can live without sinus problems and allergies. Here is the story of one patient and another's testimonial. . . .

"Doug" (not his real name) has been a patient now for close to a decade. He came to me with severe sinus infections and bronchitis. Being an mature man he had lived this way for close to fifty years.

He told me he generally got at least seven sinus infections a year that turned into bronchitis.

He had allergy testing which showed nothing much and he had tried herbs somewhere else and wasn't willing to do anything but acupuncture. With winter coming in upon us - his worst time of the year - I set in to see him twice weekly.

As I got to know 'Doug' he told me about the loss of his dad, and of a child over the years. The time he spent in the military and the loss of friends. While he never shed a tear or had a tremble in his voice his symptoms suggested sadness or grief over their loss.

Further more he drank like a sailor (sorry folks) and I suspected the habit played a part in upsetting his digestion.

After a few weeks of acupuncture treatments he began to feel better. He had made it through a bad weather spell without a sinus infection. His lungs were clear too. By the end of that snowy winter he was only seeing me once a month and had not had any sinus pain, infections or respiratory problems.

He also started smiling and commented on how good he felt about life. Something anyone who knew him told me he never said.

'Doug' has had only one sinus infection in over ten years and continues to see me about every 3-8 weeks. It's up to him.

He has stopped drinking over the years and his digestion has improved too. He stopped because the deep sadness he felt is gone and he enjoys his retirement and grandchildren.

Do I believe we got rid of the ant eater? I know we did. Acupuncture helps people stop letting their noses rule their lives both physically and emotional. While it doesn't always work for this problem here in Littleton acupuncture has helped many Denver people enjoy high allergy days and cold winter nights.

continued from one of our blogs. . .

after just a few treatment s and some take home herbal formulas L. was out of sinus pain and the infection high-tailing it to another willing body (probably a child with dirty hands at the school) and L. was excited.

She had a list of things she wanted help with and so for a time we worked with acupuncture to help TMJ, back pain, neck pain, elbow pain, and even to improve her lung and immune system.

Health insurance often does cover sinus problems though they don't cover allergies if you experience sinus pain or infection you medical plan may provide benefits for this and many other problems.

One key to making sure your acupuncture is covered by insurance is to see a provider like Debra who works with insurance and is often a preferred provider for most companies.
